Jemima Jahan Meem is a Lecturer at the Department of Environment and Development Studies of UIU. Prior to joining UIU, she worked at the Department of Sociology & Anthropology of the Green University of Bangladesh (GUB). She also worked as a Research Assistant in Oxfam in Bangladesh. Besides, she also worked as a Research Assistant in a2i-(innovate for all). She has worked as a Research Fellow in Action Aid Bangladesh (AAB). She also worked as a project consultant in UNICEF Bangladesh & Barishal City Corporation. She also worked as a Data enumerator & field worker on different projects. She has attended several national & international conferences, workshops & training programme. However, she completed her BSS (Monograph) & MSS (Thesis) in sociology from University of Barishal. Apart from that, she completed post graduate diploma in International Relation from University of Dhaka. She also completed her Internship from a2i (innovate for all) with collaboration UNDP & USAID. She has extensively worked on SDG Tracker, Human Development Index & “Leave No one behind” projects. Her research interests cover issues related to society, development and the environment. She has experience in doing research on women empowerment & gender based violence, climate change adaptation, disaster & resilience, rural society. She is currently engaged in research on resilience & sustainability from a gender based perspective in coastal areas. She prefers doing qualitative research. She has published papers in academic journals & conferences.

received several scholarships and research grants for interdisciplinary and international activities including The Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund – Sylff 2010 & 2011 Scholarship, a Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship, “Research Grant Program for Foreign Doctoral Candidates in Japan” of The Setsutaro Kobayashi Memorial Fund’s FY 2010.

He also worked as a Teaching Assistant for seven years in both undergraduate and graduate level courses at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Japan. He has attended many national and international conferences as well as given guest lectures in national and foreign universities. Academically he possesses a diverse and multi-disciplinary background. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. from the School of Asia Pacific Studies, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Japan. He studied in the field of environment and development studies. However, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Patuakhali Science & Technology University Bangladesh. He has received several scholarships and research grants for interdisciplinary and international activities including The Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund – Sylff 2010 & 2011 Scholarship, a Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship, “Research Grant Program for Foreign Doctoral Candidates in Japan” of The Setsutaro Kobayashi Memorial Fund’s FY 2010. He is the recipient of prestigious Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) fellowship to work as research fellow at the Institute for Sustainable Futures, Keele University, Staffordshire, UK and the "Sylff Research Abroad" Grant to work and study as an intern at the Centre for Non-Traditional Security Studies, S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore.
