IJRC Guest Session: Mr. Yasuhiro Yonehara San – First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in India.
The Indian Institute of Management Nagpur recently hosted a visit from Yonehara Yasuhiro, the first secretary of the Japan Embassy in India and Bhutan, to boost academic research and collaboration between India and Japan. The visit was hosted by the Indo-Japan Research Centre at IIM Nagpur and aimed to improve cooperation between the two countries in industry and academics.
During the visit, several key topics were discussed to take forward the goal of improved Indo-Japanese cooperation. These programs are designed to give managers and administrative personnel a deeper understanding of the Indian business environment and are customized to the industry’s specific needs. Another important topic discussed was the certificate programs offered by IIM Nagpur in Management and Data Sciences for industry personnel. These programs aim to equip industry professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their field. Yonehara also highlighted the importance of internships and placement opportunities for IIM Nagpur students. This will not only provide students with valuable industry experience but also help to create a more diverse workforce.
To further strengthen the ties between Japan and India, the visit also discussed the possibility of a joint cultural and industry meeting in the form of an ‘Indo-Japan Conclave’ at IIM Nagpur. This event would allow Japanese and Indian companies to come together and discuss potential collaborations and business opportunities. He also discussed the importance of exchange programs for students and faculty members in collaboration with Japanese Universities. These programs would allow students and faculty members to better understand Japan’s culture and business practices and further strengthen the ties between the two countries.
