In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at revitalizing and transforming the agriculture sector and enhancing rural development, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India (GoI), in collaboration with the State Institute of Rural Development (YASHADA), Pune, is set to organize a highly specialized Leadership Development Program (LDP). This exclusive program will be held at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur from March 24 to 28, 2025.
The program is uniquely designed for 100 selected Sarpanches (Grampanchayat Representatives) from across the state of Maharashtra. These leaders, who play a crucial role in the governance and development of rural areas, have been carefully chosen to participate in this specialized leadership training. It is an exceptional opportunity for these community leaders to sharpen their skills and gain a deeper understanding of governance, rural development, and effective leadership strategies.
The Leadership Development Program (LDP) will feature distinguished Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, who will engage with the Sarpanches, offering valuable insights and guidance throughout the five-day session. The program aims to foster strong leadership qualities, deepen knowledge on governance issues, and enhance the Sarpanches’ capacity to drive progress in their respective regions. The involvement of eminent faculty members from IIM Nagpur will ensure that the program remains insightful and comprehensive, covering various aspects of leadership, governance, rural development, and innovative management practices.
This leadership training initiative is envisioned in line with the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, who has consistently emphasized the strengthening of Panchayat Raj institutions as a critical element for ensuring effective decentralization of power and promoting grassroots development. By empowering the Sarpanches with advanced leadership skills, the program seeks to build a more robust foundation for rural development, enhancing the role of Panchayats in shaping the future of India’s rural landscape.
The five-day program will provide an immersive learning experience, with a blend of interactive sessions, practical workshops, and collaborative discussions. The Sarpanches will also have the opportunity to network with fellow leaders and experts, fostering collaboration and the exchange of best practices in rural governance.
