Abhyudaya The cultural Club

On the occasion of Navratri, Abhyudaya – The cultural club of IIM Nagpur has planned to organize three fun-filled and engaging celebration nights on the 13th, 14th and 15th of October 2021.

India is one country that is an ocean of different cuisines, cultures, people and more. Every region has a different way of celebrating every festival. Navratri too is one festival that is celebrated differently everywhere. Navratri basically means nine nights in Sanskrit where Nava means nine and Ratri means night. All the nine Avatars symbolize different qualities like power, happiness, humanity, peace, knowledge, devotion, name, fame, and health. It is during these nine nights and ten days when nine different forms of the goddess are worshipped. Navratri is a festival that is full of excitement and color, a time for family and friends to come together and celebrate. Each of the nine days is dedicated to Goddess Durga’s nine avatars and is considered very auspicious. In each part of India, it has a different significance. In the East and various parts of North-east India, Navratri is celebrated as Durga Puja, where the festival symbolizes the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura, signifying the victory of good over evil. ‘Pandals’ are set up in every nook and corner of the city to celebrate this magical festival. In the Northern and Western parts of India, Ram Leela (a retelling of the Ramayana) is held, ending in Dussehra, where effigies of Ravana are set on fire to signify Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana.
