Programme Overview
The program is crafted in alignment with the directives set forth by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, in accordance with the imperative for trained and seasoned institutional leaders as outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Its primary aim is to nurture faculty members, particularly those in the early stages of their careers, to cultivate a reservoir of potential leaders for seamless generational transition. Operating under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP), under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, this Nurturing Future Leadership Program seeks to achieve several objectives:
- Instilling leadership competencies in faculty members to propel individual and organizational advancement.
- Furnishing a broad spectrum of leadership skills across all faculty tiers.
- Expanding the pool of potential leaders for various leadership roles in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
- Equipping faculty to actively contribute to collective decision-making, shared governance, initiative development, and problem-solving.
- Enhancing institute administration by fostering efficient leadership qualities among faculty members.
The curriculum of the course offers faculty participants a holistic understanding of leadership and its ramifications within HEIs. Commencing with self-awareness and its influence on interpersonal dynamics, the program delves into diverse leadership theories and models while sensitizing participants to multifaceted leadership dimensions. Through interactive case discussions and exercises, the program explores leaders’ impacts on groups and individuals, while also addressing essential leadership skills such as communication, coaching, and goal-setting in the HEI context. Emphasizing experiential learning, the program encourages participants to not only grasp theoretical concepts but also to apply and experiment with these techniques within simulated academic institution settings. Furthermore, the program underscores the necessity for a targeted approach to teaching within HEIs as a means of developing human capital and shaping student behaviour and attitudes. The continual challenge of imparting updated knowledge and skills, and adapting to evolving technologies in education remains a central focus of the program.
