1. INTRODUCTION
The document describes the admission process, including the shortlisting and selection criteria for the BMBA-DSM, 2027-29 batch at the Indian Institute of Management Nagpur (IIM Nagpur).
- Overview & Objective: Business is becoming more data-driven, technology-enabled, and complex. Managers today need strong business judgement along with the ability to understand data, analytics, artificial intelligence, and their role in decision-making. The MBA in Data Science & Management at IIM Nagpur is designed for working professionals who want to strengthen their managerial capabilities without stepping away from their careers. Its blended format combines the rigour of an MBA with the flexibility needed by experienced professionals. The programme integrates core management areas such as finance, marketing, operations, human resources, strategy, and supply chain with data science, analytics, AI, and digital technologies. The focus is not only on tools and techniques. Participants learn to frame the right business problems, interpret analytical insights, work effectively with technology teams, and translate data into better decisions. Through academic learning, practical application, and interaction with faculty and industry experts, the programme aims to prepare professionals to lead confidently in increasingly data-driven organisations.
- Duration: The BMBA-DSM is scheduled on weekends/weekdays evenings/mornings over two years so that working professionals could attend without taking a break in their careers.
- Course structure brief:
- The BMBA-DSM is a two-year programme spread across eight terms of three months each (4 terms in each year). The programme incorporates about 850 hours of classroom teaching spread over these two years as per various regulatory agencies’ requirements. The courses include a mix of core (compulsory) courses and elective (to be chosen by participants) courses.

2. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
2.1 Educational Qualification
A candidate should have any one of the following educational qualifications:
- Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree of a minimum duration of three years from a recognized university or institution, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA preferably holding a UG degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or other relevant Science disciplines.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification should be:
(a) from any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956 or,
(b) recognized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India or,
(c) possess an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE or Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
2.2 Work Experience
A minimum of three years of full time work experince including Technical/managerial/ entrepreneurial/ any professional experience is mandatory in last 5 years after completion of UG.
The total number of months of work experience completed (as of last date of Application) will be considered. Only full-time and paid experience will be considered. Part-time/Project/Internship/CA Article ship/Apprenticeship/Pre-graduation work experience/ work experience which involves payment as stipend will not be counted as work experience. For work experience in multiple organizations, all the durations (months and days) will be added to arrive at the total experience. For example, if the total work experience is 13 months and 25 days, it will be considered 13 months. A valid proof of the date of appointment, work experience certificate, and proof of payment/salary will have to be made available for verification at any stage of application and be submitted at the time of registration for the program.
For candidates having work experience in the family business or own business venture, valid proofs of the existence of the business, association, and role of the individual in the business and proof of payment during work experience will be required. It will be the candidate’s responsibility to provide documents as and when required by the Admissions Office.
3. SCREENING EXAMINATION
Candidates need to appear for a screening examination conducted by IIM Nagpur Aptitude Test (IIMNAT) to be considered for admission to the programme. IIMNAT will consist of questions that evaluate a candidate’s quantitative, verbal, logical, and data interpretive abilities. Following are the key details about the IIMNAT Entrance Test:
- Date of Entrance Exam: Refer Important Dates
- Mode of Entrance Exam: Computer based online examination. The details will be shared with candidates before the examination via email/admission portal.
- Duration: 90 minutes
- No. of Questions: 90 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) divided into three sections – Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Aptitude (QA)– 30 questions each.
- Scoring System: 1 mark for the correct answer (no negative marking).
IIM Nagpur has the right to introduce any shortlist criteria before the screening exam.

4. ADMISSION PROCESS
4.1. Stages in the Admission Process
The admission process will comprise of the following stages:
Candidates are invited to fill a detailed application form within a stipulated date. It is suggested that candidates check the admissions policy for eligibility criteria before filling the application form and have the supporting documents ready for verifications. Candidates found ineligible or have incomplete application cannot claim refund of the application fees.
Candidates who complete the application form and clear the preliminary eligibility checks will be issued admit cards for screening examination IIMNAT. A shortlist for the Personal Interview (PI) based on the IIMNAT scores.
Candidates who are shortlisted at the end of stage 2 will have to attend the PI. Only candidates who appeared for the PI will be considered for the preparation of the final merit list. Admission offers will be sent to the successful candidates based on their Final Score. The Final Score will be computed as follows:
Final Score = 0.40 *Test Score Rating + 0.20* Past Academic Performance Rating + 0.40* Personal Interview
4.2. Application Procedure
4.2.1. How to apply
The link to apply for BMBA-DSM is: (to be updated). Candidates will have to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs 2500.
4.2.2. Documents to be uploaded
All related documents, as mentioned below, will have to be uploaded as per the instructions while filling the application form.
- Originals of all academic mark-sheets/certificates and Degree of Graduation/ Post Graduation
- Work Experience proofs
Additional documents may be needed on case to case basis to support candidature. All the documents submitted by the candidates will be verified at the time of application submission.
5. OFFER
The selected candidates will receive provisional admission offers by portal/email. Candidates need to pay Rs 1,00,000 at the time of offer acceptance within a stipulated time as mentioned in the offer letter. This amount will be adjusted in the Term 1 fee. The verification of documents will be done prior to the provisional offer. It is the responsibility of the candidates to check the eligibility criteria before applying. If a candidate is found ineligible at any stage during the document check, the admission offer will be cancelled.

7. FEES AND FINANCING OPTIONS
7.1. Fee details
The total fee of the program for the batch of 2027-29 is Rs 12,10,000. The fee payable at the time of acceptance of the admission offer is Rs. 1,00,000. This amount of Rs 1,00,000 will be adjusted against the fee to be paid at the start of Term 1. Fees Structure

The payment of the offer acceptance fee and the subsequent instalments has to be done. A payment link will be shared with the candidates for the same.
7.3. Financing Options
