Dr Bhimaraya Metri (Director, IIM Nagpur) shared his thoughts at National Webinar on Good Governance on the topic of Ensuring Inclusive Governance: Making Every Person Matter.
As the nation celebrates Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the national webinar series has been organised by the Ministry of Education, University Grant Commission and supported by Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University Lucknow. The webinar began with an inaugural session in the august presence of Shri Arjun Munda, Hon’ble Minister of Tribal Affairs. The welcome Address for the webinar was delivered by Prof. Sanjay Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow, followed by opening remarks by Prof. D.P. Singh, Chairman, UGC. Shri Amit Khare, Secretary, Higher Education addressed the webinar and Prof. Alok Rai, VC, University of Lucknow delivered the keynote speech followed by a technical session on the given theme.
In the technical session of the webinar, Prof. Rajnish Jain, Secretary, UGC introduced eminent guests Prof. Sushma Yadav, Former Vice-Chancellor, Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Sonepat and Member-UGC, Prof. M.M.Salunkhe, VC, Bharati Vidhyapeeth, DTBU, Pune, Prof. H C S Rathore, former Vice-Chancellor, Central University of South Bihar, Prof. Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur, and Dr Gopukumar, Joint Secretary, UGC.
In his address, Dr Metri highlighted that Inclusiveness means leaving no one behind. He further added that good governance has four important dimensions, first is promoting and protecting human rights, second increasing equitable access to functioning justice, third enhancing the participation of the public and last ensuring public services work for everyone.
