Dr Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur spoke on ‘Managing Water in Agriculture’ at the virtual World Water Day 2021 event organized by the Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. In his address, Prof Metri said that this year ‘s theme “Valuing Water” means recognizing and considering all the diverse benefits and risks provided by water, and encompassing its economic, social, and ecological dimensions as well as its diverse cultural and religious meanings. Safeguarding ecosystems, and the poor, the excluded, and the vulnerable is crucial, as is access to water services, for equitable and inclusive human development. Universal access to safe drinking water and sanitation is a fundamental human right.
The event was also graced by eminent academicians such as Dr Basant Maheshwari (WSU Australia), Prof Uday Shankar Saha (IRMA), Prof J N Patel (SVNIT), Dr HJ Siva Prasad (GBPUAT), Dr Alaknanda Ashok (GBPUAT) and Dr Tej Partap (GBPUAT).
