IIM Nagpur in association with CBL readiSCO organized its first-ever Book discussion session with Mr. Harsh Mariwala, Founder and Chairman of Marico Private Limited with a mission of creating Human Libraries at the Institute and be a pioneer at doing amongst all other institutions.
The session started with the launch of the book at IIM Nagpur by the Director Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, “Harsh Realities – The Making of Marico”, written by Mr. Harsh and co-authored by Prof. Ram Charan. As the session progressed, Mr. Harsh, a commerce graduate as he proudly announces, shared many key learnings from his life that encompassed several domains of business from marketing to HR. The students gained valuable insights on the importance of focusing on people, be it the ones in the organization or the customers outside, as they are the ones that make or break an organization.
The session concluded with Mr. Harsh enlightening the audience on how one should always choose paths that enable the use of one’s strengths and also shared examples from his life on the same. He spoke of how his sheer will to succeed drove Marico to where it is today. He concluded that in the present day, passion alone will not get you all the way, but a combination of passion, perseverance, and determination or collectively called ‘grit’ is how one succeeds. The session was indeed insightful and engaging, and also a reason for every young entrepreneur or business leader out there to read the inspiring story of the making of Marico.
