The first batch of MBA programme for Working professionals by IIM Nagpur at its Pune campus situated on CIRT premises, Pune was inaugurated on Sunday in the presence of (L to R) Shri Vaibhav Dange, Chairperson, Building Committee & Member, Board of Governors, IIMN, Dr Bhimaraya Metri, Director IIM Nagpur, Ms Roopa Purushothaman, chief economist and head of policy & advocacy at Tata Sons, Mumbai, Shri Amit Kalyani, Deputy Managing Director – Bharat Forge Ltd, Shri CP Gurnani, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Nagpur and MD & CEO Tech Mahindra, Shri Pradeep Udhas, Senior Partner KPMG in India, Shri KVRK Prasad, Director CIRT.

The Indian Institute of Management Nagpur (IIMN) welcomed the first batch of MBA programme for Working Professionals at its Pune campus, situated on CIRT campus on Sunday. Shri Amit Kalyani, Deputy Managing Director – Bharat Forge Ltd, was the chief guest of the function. He elaborated on the necessity of executive MBA programme and how the lessons learnt at the Business School added value to his knowledge and provided insight to how he could have done things differently.
Admitting that the years at Business School taught him a lot about people, Shri Kalyani pointed out that such executive programmes hone the skills of professionals and turn them into true leaders. Giving a piece of advice to the students, he also said, “Sharpening of skills in such executive programmes help you strike a balance between work and home.”

Shri Pradeep Udhas, Senior Partner KPMG in India, who was present as the guest of honour, shared his success mantra. He said that inner drive, energy and hard work determine your career path. Transforming yourself in evolving situations is the sign of a true leader, he pointed out. “Building trust is the key to a sustainable relationship,” he felt.

In her keynote address, Ms Roopa Purushothaman, chief economist and head of policy & advocacy at Tata Sons, Mumbai, congratulated the first batch for securing admission. She said that they needed to focus on skill enhancement in the market. All upcoming expansions should be ecologically compatible. Every opportunity in emerging markets needs to be tapped for the development of the country, she opined.

Shri CP Gurnani, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Nagpur and MD & CEO Tech Mahindra, insisted on the need to carry on a legacy while evolving. He emphasized the need for a professional to show willingness to listen, learn, relearn and transform. The capability to challenge conventional thinking, capability to marry the legacy to future is extremely crucial, he added.
Welcoming the dignitaries and the new batch of MBA-WP, Dr Bhimaraya Metri, Director IIM Nagpur, said in the evolving market, everyone has to sharpen their skills and become the change master to lead the unknown role in the unborn companies. In the changing scenario, perpetual learners will be the winners, he added.

While sharing some interesting experiences, Shri Vaibhav Dange, Chairperson, Building Committee & Member, Board of Governors, IIMN and infrastructure expert, said that the MBA-WP would prove to be of immense help to the participants in their careers.
Shri KVRK Prasad, Director CIRT, informed that his institute will be closely working with IIM Nagpur for offering programme on transport management. He congratulated IIM Nagpur and participants. Prof. Saurabh Pandya, chairperson, MBA Programme for Working Professionals, provided a brief overview of the programme and an expected journey for the participants.
