IIM Nagpur signs MoU with Govt of Maha to design disaster mgmt strategiesAug 23, 2022

NAGPUR: Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur (IIM Nagpur) signed an MoU with Government of Maharashtra for preparation of guidelines on disaster management strategies for the state on August 22, 2022. Shri Aseem Kumar Gupta, IAS Principal Secretary Disaster Management, Government of Maharashtra, and Dr Bhimaraya Metri, Director IIM Nagpur, signed the MoU.

As per the understanding, IIM Nagpur will prepare guidelines for disaster management strategies pertaining to evacuation planning in closed and open spaces, structural health monitoring, management for bridges and critical infrastructure with a perspective to avoid disasters due to collapse of bridges or structures. In the phase I of the project, IIM Nagpur will help design disaster management strategies at Dadar Railway station and Triambakeshwar temple in Nashik. After the first phase of the project, Government of Maharashtra and IIM Nagpur may take up other places and locations under phase II.

Shri Vaibhav Dange, Member Board of Governors, IIM Nagpur and expert on Infrastructure and Sustainable Transport, Admiral ( Retd ) S K Jha, expert on Disaster Evacuation Planning, and Shri Shantanu Sharma, CEO, Medulla-Soft Technologies, were present for the MoU signing ceremony.
