Janmashtami Celebration at IIM NagpurAug 24, 2019

Janmastami

Krishna Janmashtami celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. This day signifies the victory of good over evil and is celebrated all over the country to honor the Natkhat Nandlal and the craver of Makhan.

Also known as Gokulashtami, this day has 5,200 years of cultural roots in our country. It also brings together people and celebrates the principle of unity.

IIM Nagpur was super high on energy with all eyes thirsting towards the colorful Matki dangling high up, before being broken into pieces. Decor of the venue add to the essence of the event, but everyone coming together with smiling faces and a zest to keep up the culture is what adds beauty to the event.

The event started with a puja where everyone assembled to enrich themselves with the blessings of little Lord Krishna. Those energizing chants with claps in sync and the fragrance of the incense stick, served the purpose of warming everyone up before heading towards the matki. The matki-phod was something everyone was looking forward to.

The dangling of the matki came to a rest when the human pyramid was at its glory, waiting to taste the curd as the taste of its victory. Gulal on faces and music that made everyone groove a little was proof that everyone was enjoying themselves, and that this event was a success.
