Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur conducted a 5-day Management Development Program titled “Embedding Leadership Qualities among MOIL Executives” for senior level executives of MOIL, a Miniratna state-owned manganese-ore mining company headquartered in Nagpur.The program was inaugurated by Prof. L S Murty, Director, IIM Nagpur and Shri Rakesh Tumane, Director, Finance, MOIL ltd. In his address to the program participants, Prof. Murty highlighted the importance of leaders in today’s fast-paced and competitive business environment. Prof. Murty emphasized that to be effective,leaders need to depart from earlier modes of providing directions. They require skills for understanding self, others, and the business environment. Shri Rakesh Tumane, in his address to the participants,underlined the need for developing strong analytical skills, conflict management skills, and effective decision-making skills for leaders to be effective.

Program facilitators, Prof. Neerpal Rathi, Prof. Thiagu Ranganathan and Prof. Rahul Sett, guided the participants in understanding different facets of leadership. The program focused on topics, such as self-awareness, emotion management, leadership styles and competencies, talent management, change management, enterprise risk management, escalation of commitment, judgment under uncertainty, conflict management, decision-making, and motivating self and others.
