Orientation 2021-23: Keynote Speech by Mr MVN RaoJul 8, 2021

Students of the PGP Batch of 2021-23 of IIMN learnt about the importance of focusing on physical and mental wellbeing, building support networks and making the best of their life as MBA students in a highly interactive session, by renowned industry leader Mr MVN Rao (Group Head, HR & CSR, L&T Hydrocarbon Engg Ltd).

Mr Rao shared with the students the means to ensure their holistic growth during the two-year course. He spoke about his own experience as a management student, how the learnings from those two years continue to stand him in good stead, emphasizing on learning and modelling good behaviour from professors and peers. He carried out a detailed conversation with the students about the subjectivity of success, and that some years (or decades) down the line, these definitions would shift as individuals evolve and develop more facets of their personalities.

Mr Rao also focused on the significance of reflection before action. He explained how simply collecting information as “knowledge” is not enough – it is essential to reflect upon it, and apply it to action which forms the foundation of wisdom.
He underscored the importance of looking inwards for obtaining clarity under the most critical of situations, and then taking decisions that address the concerns of all stakeholders involved. He also appealed to the students to form strong connections among themselves to leverage this learning opportunity to the fullest and build a lasting support system that also evolves into the flag-bearing alumni body of the institution.

It was a truly insightful session for the students, and we thank Mr MVN Rao for carving out time for this wonderful address.
