UTKARSH 4.0, the annual H.R conclave, held at IIM NagpurDec 13, 2022

The inauguration ceremony of the Utkarsh 4.0, the annual H.R conclave of IIM Nagpur, started with a lamp-lighting ceremony followed by the welcome address by Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director IIM Nagpur.

The theme for the first session of Utkarsh 4.0 was “Scouting the right talent pool in times of soaring attrition.”
Dr. Bhimaraya Metri addressed the students and guests on the topic of recession and disruption and how the Indian economy will emerge as the super economy.

Dr. Neerpal Rathi, Associate Prof IIM Nagpur, initiated the discussion by asking the panel to shed some light on what is the right talent and what organizations are doing to attract them.

Mrs. Dhaarna Arora, head of HR-Reliance Retail, expressed a differing idea where she specified that the right talent is about agility in problem-solving and adapting to the organization’s culture. She also emphasizes self-learning and development in the organization.
Mr. Debabrata Mohapatra, President, and Global HR Head-Schneider Electric, accredited essential factors like critical thinking and creativity and gave insights on future-proofing to become resilient to disruptions.

Mr. Sitaram Kandi, Head of HR-Tata Motors, talked about the post covid definition of a job and stated that 80% of campus hires leave their job within the first two years. The problem of high attrition was brought to the stand, and the Genuity of candidates in interviews was well-thought-out.

Mr. Sumit Sabharwal, Vice President HR-Fujitsu, believed there is no such thing as the right talent; instead, it’s more about the right company and attitude. He also discussed how feedback mechanisms could improve the performance management of employees.
