World Meditation Day: CM Devendra Fadnavis, AYUSH Minister to attend event at IIM Nagpur on Sunday

In an important step towards promoting holistic well-being and global harmony, Indian Institute of Management Nagpur (IIM Nagpur) will host a special programme on the occasion of World Meditation Day on December 21, from 7.00 am at its MIHAN campus.

The programme will be held in the divine presence of Shivkrupanand Swamiji, a self-realised sage and founder of Himalayan Samarpan Dhyanyog, who spent 16 years in deep meditation in the Himalayas.

The event will also be graced by the presence of Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and Prataprao Jadhav, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of AYUSH.

Organised in association with the Shri Shivkrupanand Swami Foundation and supported by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, the programme is based on the theme “One World, One Family – Let’s Meditate Together.” The event will be held from 7.00 am to 9.00 am.

Participants will experience Samarpan Dhyanyog, an 800-year-old meditation tradition that is simple, effortless, and does not involve physical postures or complex techniques. This meditation practice is globally recognised for supporting physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Since last year, December 21 is observed as World Meditation Day across the globe. After International Yoga Day on June 21, this is the second major global initiative rooted in India’s ancient wisdom. It reflects India’s growing role in shaping global well-being and mental health conversations. This year, the celebration of this day in Nagpur gains national importance as it is being hosted at Indian Institute of Management Nagpur.

IIM Nagpur is contributing meaningfully to this global initiative by hosting the celebration and spreading awareness about meditation among students, professionals, and society at large. By bringing together policymakers, academicians, and the community, the institute is reinforcing the idea that leadership begins with inner balance.

From yoga to meditation, India continues to offer the world simple tools for healthier and more peaceful living. World Meditation Day is not just a date on the calendar. It is an invitation to slow down, to look within, and to live with greater awareness.

On December 21, the world pauses. And from Nagpur, a strong message goes out—inner peace is the foundation of global harmony.
