Speakers open up on industry expectations and trends

The second day of Illume’18, IIM Nagpur’s annual flagship industry-institute meet, commenced with eminent human resource management leaders sharing their thoughts on ‘Establishing project-based team beyond organizational boundaries’, here on Sunday.

Keynote speaker Adhir Mane, CHRO, Raymond Lifestyle Business, enriched the students with his insights on practicing Holacracy in the workplace. He also focused on the need for change in pedagogy with a key focus on competency-based learning.

‘The day you stop learning is the day when you start degrowing. The most critical thing infrequently evolving industry is not to have the right answers, but to have the right questions,’ said Rajesh Hurkat, Head HR, Mattel India, and one of the panelists at Illume’18. He emphasized on key factors that industry expects B-school graduates to have, such as openness to learning, high learning agility, curiosity to challenge status quo and strive towards becoming a servant leader, and not just another manager.

Panellist Rajesh Sahay, HR, Wipro Consumer Care, added dimensions of democratization of data and how with an idea and availability of internet we have can be enterprise-ready. He illustrated on the understanding of demographics, politics, and economy so as to understand the business. The session was also graced by the presence of Amit Vaish, Director HR, Barclays. He stressed upon self-evaluation practices so as to be the change agent in an organization.

The afternoon session and the concluding part of Illume’18 were on ‘Enabling paradigm shift towards customer personalization.’ The segment strongly presented the transforming marketing practices with a rapid shift towards customer-centric marketing practices.

Prasenjit Roy, CMO, NTT.com, kick-started the session with an in-depth analysis of ‘how well-directed campaigns aimed towards customer personalization effectively reaches out to customers.’ He communicated about the importance of Omni channel marketing, touch points, the power of data to increase engagement and elaborated on how an encapsulation of data, technology, analytics, and agility leads to an effective, efficient engagement.

Panellist Mihir Deshpande, Director Marketing, Strategy & Commercial Excellence, Thermo Fisher Scientific, familiarised the students with the concept and application of data contextuality in order to create a scaled customer relationship.

Keynote marketeer S Subramanyeswar, CSO, Lowe Lintas opened up popular dimensions of how organizations have done customer personalization. He explained the detailed strategy adopted by Coke, Spotify, and Nutella to trace consumer behavior pattern and then designed personalized labels to grab a huge market share across demographics.

Two days of enthralling and insightful sessions across functions provided IIM Nagpur students with immense exposure about industry expectations and trends. The objective of this industry-academia meet to illustrate the need for agile learning, continuous experimentation to boost learning and overall experience, was very well conveyed at Illume’18.

Industry stalwarts showed an affirmative response for Illume’18 and applauded the institute, students and organizing team for creating a versatile, dynamic and content-rich platform for an interactive knowledge sharing.
