Ummeed celebrated Women’s Day by conducting a knowledge session on Menstruation and Menstrual Hygiene for the girls fostered by the NGO UPAY.
The session started with an explanation of the science behind menstruation, followed by steps to ensure health and hygiene that one needs to take. More than 35 students attended it. It was an interactive session with students asking several questions. This was followed by distribution of refreshments for everyone. This visit was about the need for educating girls about the changes that happen to them during menstruation and how they need to take care of themselves. The event was conducted on March 7th. On March 9th, Women’s Day was celebrated with the women of the IIMN Fraternity. It started with a video sharing a message by the Executive Director of UN Women. This was followed by sharing of experiences and ‘Thank You’ messages by men from the Institute. It also saw faculty members sharing their thoughts, followed by distribution of greeting cards and roses to all the women of the Institute. The session ended with a pledge to protect and respect women. The event was about taking time for thanking women who are part of our lives and thus acknowledging their importance.
