The Indian Institute of Management Nagpur (IIMN) celebrated India’s 72nd Republic day on 26th Jan 2021, which is a day of immense pride and honour for the nation, since the Constitution of India came into force this day, in the year 1950, with great fervour and zeal. The entire IIM Nagpur community celebrated the event virtually with provisions for a few, keeping in mind the Covid-19 guidelines.
The day’s proceedings commenced with the inspection of the guard of honour by IIMN Director Dr Bhimaraya Metri which was followed by the flag hoisting ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Director sir emphasized on the essence of the patriotic spirit and how one can always contribute to the upliftment of society and the nation.
He threw light on the fact that Indian economy is progressing at a fast pace and how the public sector played an important role in India’s progress. The speech ended with how IIM Nagpur had grown over the last 5 years and its future plans.
Republic Day celebrations were quite different but the patriotic spirit was still the same.
With freedom in the mind, strength in the words & zeal within the hearts, the students at the Institute paid tribute to all our brave freedom fighters by their vibrant performances.
The feeling of patriotism reached its peak when first-year students sang soulful versions of the iconic songs in their mellifluous voice, which brought goosebumps to many in the gathering.
The tales of unsung heroes continued and students also paid tribute to all those Corona warriors who have laid down their lives in the service of the nation, through poem recitation by a PGP 1 student, and encouraged us to learn from the sacrifice of those warriors, by doing our bit for the development of the nation. Our dance team brought an end to an event with an energetic and rousing contemporary performance and thanked all those who serve us 24/7 to make our lives safer and better.
