IIM Nagpur Celebrates Onam
The students of IIM Nagpur celebrated Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala with great enthusiasm on 22nd September.
Onam is a festival that brings along with it all the colours of Kerala. Its history, culture and beliefs were all seen on the IIM Nagpur campus. Students were excited about the celebration, and that could be seen one week before when the preparations started. Everyone was ready with their traditional outfits.
On the day of the celebration, flowers from one of the best markets of Nagpur were brought. These flowers were for the main attraction of the event that is “Pookkalam”, a traditional flower rangoli. Designing of the Pookkalam started hours before the event and with all the beautiful flowers in place, it looked like a masterpiece.
Some games like Tug-of-War and Filling-the-Bottle were organized as part of the celebration; wherein everybody participated with full zest.
At dinner, it was time for some authentic Malayali food. Dishes that represent Onam festivities were served by the students on banana leaves. The delicious food, festivities and fanfare brought Kerala alive on the campus of IIM Nagpur.
